My narrative figure artwork explores relationships within naturally
choreographed moments of everyday events that become time-bytes
of social commentary. Revealed are themes of Leisure,
Moments in Time and Hide and Seek.
Leisure – narrative figure paintings interpret interpersonal relationships occurring during leisure activities. Social interaction reflects humor, mystery, alienation, and a sense of place. Role playing and societal expectations are questioned. Water surrounding the figures symbolizes an atmosphere of continuity, fun and unpredictability. Dialogues develop through the viewer’s imagination and associations. Subjects include figures at play, and scenes of Central Park and other New York City Parks. These bold plein-air acrylic paintings, expressionist and representational in style, follow in the tradition of Hopper,
Porter, Lawrence, and Katz.
Moments in Time – This series of acrylic paintings explores
everyday events and the interactive relationship of figures.
It includes museum café’s, and workers.
